From Small Town Roots to Global Reach

Michelle Lemmons started iSB out of her home in San Angelo, Texas in the fall of 1992. Shortly thereafter, the fledgling start-up booked Charles Kuralt as its first speaker. The following year Michelle relocated to her college (SMU) city of Dallas. She leased a small office and hired current VP Neal Shiller as her first employee.

iSB continued to spread its wings over the next few years and by 1996, the company had created an interactive website, experienced its first million-dollar month and moved into a new headquarters on Prospect Avenue. iSB then became the first speaker bureau to provide speaker videos on its website among other innovations within the industry.

iSB was named the #26 Top Women Owned firm in Texas, the #1 Small Business in America Award from Sprint, Bank One acknowledged iSB as one of their Top Female Owned Businesses, and iSB was given credit for being one of Dallas' Top 100 Companies.

In 2002, iSB inked an affiliate agreement with The Speakers Bureau. This new relationship vastly increased the size and scope of iSB services and led to the opening of offices in Edmonton, Alberta; Asheville, North Carolina and Burlington, Vermont and Portland, OR.
