Nick Scheele, a 38-year veteran of Ford Motor Company, retired in 2005 as
President and member of the Board of Directors. His responsibilities and
successes as the corporation's head make him uniquely qualified to advise any
industry on the pitfalls and rewards of globalization.
His work with Ford began in 1966, working in Purchasing, Supply and Procurement
in Britain. Twenty years later, he was President of Ford, Mexico, where he
directed manufacturing and marketing operations. In 1992, he returned to
Britain as Vice-Chairman of Jaguar Cars Ltd., quickly rising to become Chairman
and Chief Executive. During his seven years with Jaguar, sales doubled and
Jaguar regained its place as one of the world's top marques in terms of brand
image, product quality and customer satisfaction. In July 2000, he became
President of Ford Europe, and is credited with having directed the increasingly
successful transformation of Ford's European business. In October, 2001, Sir
Nick was appointed President and COO of Ford's global operations as well as a
member of the Board of Directors.
Scheele is actively involved in many charity, business and community support
projects. He received an honorary degree from Durham University in 2003. He was
installed as Chancellor at University of Warwick in 2002.
In June 2001 the British Queen awarded Scheele a knighthood. He was awarded the
Order of St. Michael and St. George for services to British exports. He serves
on the Advisory Board for the British American Chamber of Commerce.
He is particularly interested in the education of young people and has been
involved in a number of key initiatives to raise the profile of training and
education. He was voted a lifetime member of the NSPCC (National Society for
the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) after successfully chairing an appeal to
raise money for Boole House, a childcare center in Coventry, England. He is an
active supporter of the Save the Children fund and the St. Basil's appeal for
Homeless Children and is a Patron of Greenways Homes. He chaired the annual
fundraising campaign for the Southeast Michigan United Way in 2003.
He was born in Essex. Married with three children, Scheele lists reading and
music as his interests. He is an accomplished linguist and speaks German,
French and Spanish fluently.
Nick lives in Florida and the UK and is sharing his knowledge of leadership and
management with organizations worldwide.
